Kim Coreau, founder of Help Make The Homeless Smile says, "My program is a completely volunteer and donation based and I have been doing for almost 20 years with the help of family and friends! The proceeds from our yard sales, help us to buy food or necessities that aren't normally donated like meats, dairy products, fruits & vegetables, diapers & formula, for hampers, that we give to people (usually families) that are in need!"
Kim Coreau also has a Facebook group, under the same name, and it has over 700 members!
Kim says, "I use social media,to network with other organizations, and people who want to help! I can use Facebook to get requests out for donations, for those in need, and usually within 24-48hrs, donations come in and we can build the hampers! Facebook has definitely helped me, to help others..but I wouldn't be able to help anyone, really, if it wasn't for the citizens of Thunder Bay...they are the real heroes!"
Kim Coreau has been on CBC radio a few times, news articles in TBTV Newswatch and Netnewsledger and an article was written about her last year, in the Bayview magazine. In 2015, she won "The Most Loving, Caring, Selfless Person In Ontario" award!
Kim says, "I will never let my new wheelchair, my Chiari Malformation or my EDS, stop me from helping others! Currently, I have a broke foot but I won't let it get in my way, either!"
Her advice to all is "Be kind to our Earth, practice Non-Judgmental Compassion, follow The Golden Rule and Pay it Forward! If we all did these things, the World could be a better place!"
